Originally from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Megan has been coming to Arkansas her whole life to visit her grandparents. Arkansas has always been her home and she is happy to finally live here.
She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2009 from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. After graduation, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to peruse theatre and wound up finding her passion for education while working at a local high school.
In 2015, she earned her Masters degree in higher and post secondary education, administration from Arizona State University and she continues to build her skills and knowledge in the field. Being at UAMS NW, she now has the opportunity to turn her focus to medical administration and finds joy in helping new doctors find their path in medicine.
In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, cross stitching, knitting, hanging out with her sister, and playing with her dog. The Zelda series is her absolute favorite game and she will talk about it if you ask her! She also loves Dr. Who, Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, and many other SciFi shows.
Dawna Johnson

Dawna serves as Operations Manager for Hospitalist Operations and Graduate Medical Education at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas, supporting hospitalist services and the UAMS Northwest Internal Medicine Residency Program. She joined Mercy in 2020 and brings more than 15 years of administrative and management experience, with strengths in relationship building, collaboration, and process improvement.
Previously, Dawna served as Program Manager for the UAMS Transitional Year Residency Program, working closely with program leadership to support residency operations and accreditation preparation. She also supported medical education and student wellness leadership and served on the UAMS Northwest Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies from Harding University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas.
Outside of work, Dawna enjoys hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, and whitewater rafting. Her creative interests include furniture design, painting, writing, and home remodeling. She also enjoys training her Labrador, supporting her favorite charities, and bringing friends together over Mexican food.
