Susan Tonymon, LCSW is counselor for the UAMS Northwest Campus Student Wellness Program. A graduate of University of Arkansas Little Rock School of Social work; Ms. Tonymon directed a rehabilitation and education program for wounded combat veterans at Arkansas State University, was assistant professor at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville School of Social Work, and had a private mental health therapy practice prior to joining UAMS. Her professional interests include evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss; supporting underserved students and others who might face challenges during medical training.
Ms. Tonymon specializes in mindfulness and acceptance-based behavior therapies for a broad spectrum of problems; as well as other evidenced based and integrative approaches. Susan enjoys home “make over” projects, cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, their four grown kids, and working on their historic 1900’s bed and breakfast near the U of A campus.
