College of Nursing

About the Program

The College of Nursing, provides baccalaureate, master’s, post-master’s completion, DNP , Nurse Anesthesia, and Ph.D. programs to over 600 students. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master’s degree program in nursing science, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN completion program at UAMS are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The College has faculty practicing in pediatrics, primary care, gerontology, psychiatric and mental health. The faculty are national and regional leaders and their achievements include presidents of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Southern Nursing Research Society, and the Southern Regional Education Board Council of Collegiate Education in Nursing. The College has a Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. Research focus areas include cardiovascular, gerontology, mental health and addiction, environment, and cancer.

Located in Arkansas’s only academic health science center, with world-class clinical facilities and the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Health Related Professions, and a Graduate School, the College of Nursing has partnerships with magnet clinical centers in aging, cancer, neuroscience, high-risk maternity, and ophthalmology: Arkansas Children’s Hospital, eight regional centers, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System and seven regional aging centers.
