FAYETTEVILLE — Noelle Danylchuk, M.S., a certified genetic counselor at UAMS Northwest Regional Campus, has been appointed chair of the Department of Genetic Counseling in the College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She also has been appointed director of the genetics counseling program.
“We’re fortunate to elevate Noelle’s experience and teaching philosophy to a leadership role within the Department of Genetic Counseling,” said Douglas Murphy, Ph.D., dean of the College of Health Professions at UAMS. “Noelle will help us develop the next generation of genetics professionals as we work to advance the health of Arkansans.”
Before assuming the role of department chair and program director, she was an assistant professor and the assistant program director for the department, working at UAMS’ Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville. She will continue to work at the Fayetteville campus. She also will continue to see patients in pediatric genetics at the Arkansas Children’s clinic in Lowell.
“I am looking forward to developing our state’s future genetic counseling professionals,” said Danylchuk. “There are only five genetic counselors in northwest Arkansas, but it is a wonderful health care profession for those who want to make a difference in the lives of patients.”
Danylchuk earned her Master of Science in genetic counseling at the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston. She has a Bachelor of Arts in microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
