Linda L.M. Worley, M.D.

Linda L.M. Worley, M.D., is the Chief Wellness Officer for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine and a Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She was previously the Regional Associate Dean for Northwest Arkansas in the UAMS College of Medicine and facilitated the expansion of medical training in the region. She played a key leadership role as an adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine serving as the M.D. core faculty member of the Distressed Physicians’ Course. She served as the Veterans Health Administration VISN 16 Mental Health Lead and as the VISN 16 Chief Physician Consultant to the Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Worley is Past President of the Association for Academic Psychiatry in 2005-6 and of the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry in 2013-14 and chaired the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Scientific Program Committee in 2018.
Dr. Worley’s career has been fueled by her determination to prevent and relieve suffering. A sought-after mentor, she is known for creating innovative and impactful programs. She founded the now campus-wide UAMS Student Wellness Program and the UAMS College of Medicine Faculty Wellness Program. Additionally, she contributed to the modification of the Arkansas State Medical licensure questions opening the door for proactive physician self-care. She founded the Women’s Mental Health Consultation Service within the ANGELS program (Antenatal and Neonatal Guidelines Education and Learning System) and authored the ANGELS Women’s Mental Health Evidence-Based Guidelines for the state’s obstetrical providers for many years. The American Psychiatric Association honored Arkansas CARES (Center for Addiction Research, Education and Services), the residential treatment program she led for being a model residential treatment program for treating pregnant and parenting women as they recovered from addiction, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Dr. Worley also received the UAMS Outstanding Women’s Faculty Member Award for Excellence in Leadership, Mentoring, Scholarship and Professional Achievement, and was honored with an Association for Academic Psychiatry Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
