Overview
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, staff in the Office of Community Health and Research have been available to assist through testing services, vaccine clinics, food deliveries, and by providing education and resources to our community. The Office of Community Health and Research COVID-19 Outreach team is continuing to battle the pandemic by bringing vaccine clinics to your neighborhoods.
Equitable Food Response & Relief
With funding from the Walmart Foundation, Alice L. Walton Foundation and the Beacon Fund, Community Health & Research partnered with the Arkansas Community Foundation to support coordinated food insecurity response and relief in Northwest Arkansas due to COVID-19 illness, job loss, school closures, and social distancing. Through this program, more than 1,500 Northwest Arkansas families received food so they could safely quarantine.
Multi-Agency Collaboration
Through collaboration and multi-agency coordination of COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, enhanced case management, and health education, UAMS and its partners provided navigation services to more than 10,000 Marshallese and Hispanic residents and greatly reduced infection rates among communities in northwest Arkansas.
