Overview

The Community Programs team works with community partners to help the public navigate healthcare and to access resources and education so they can live longer and healthier lives. Together, UAMS and numerous community organizations and healthcare providers work to build an environment where every person has access to their best health. Community Health Workers

UAMS community health workers are available to support Spanish and Marshallese-speaking community members in their preferred language. They use culturally-appropriate methods to connect community members to health care and other social services.

Health Literacy

The UAMS Office of Community Health and Research is working with UAMS Health Literacy and community partners to provide resources, education and support to populations in a way that is meaningful and effective. Check back soon for more information about this project.

Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health

Staff in the UAMS Office of Community Health and Research work with community partners to provide opportunities for physical activity and healthy food access to populations in northwest Arkansas. We work with churches, schools, businesses, and community organizations to connect the community to services that can improve overall health and wellness.

UAMS REACH

Teen Outreach Program

The Teen Outreach Program is a three-year program that empowers teens to make healthy decisions and avoid risky behaviors. Curriculum lessons, community service learning activities, tools and resources will help youth identify sexual risk behaviors and employ practical skills to make smart choices in their relationships and health.
